JCHS holds JROTC Raider practice
JROTC Raider practice will be held 9-11 a.m. Monday- Friday beginning Monday, Aug. 2, in the JROTC classroom at the back of Jenkins County High School (JCHS). In the event there is not adequate interest, practice sessions will be cancelled, and practice will begin Aug 17, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Anyone who would like to participate on this year’s JROTC Raider team is invited to attend the conditioning practice at the high school on Aug 2. An athletic physical is required prior to coming to practice if you do not already have a current physical on file with the athletic director.
Practice will include strength training, running, agility drills and competition techniques. Participants should wear good sneakers, suitable for running, shorts that meet school requirements (no Daisy Dukes) and a T-shirt.
This year’s Raider schedule is as follows: Aug. 21 – Metter High School (MHS); Aug. 28 – JCHS; Sept. 11 – Statesboro High School; Sept. 18 – MHS; Sept. 25 – Hephzibah (Blight Recreation Center); Oct. 2 – Elbert County High School; Oct. 9 – Spaulding High School; Oct. 16 – Hiram High School; Oct. 23 – Ft. Yargo State Paker, Winder, state championship; Oct. 20 – North Georgia College, Hart County High School, Dahlonega; and Nov. 6-7 – Gerald I. Lawhorn Boy Scout Base, Molena, national championship.
