Primary Runoff election to be held Aug. 10

The Democratic/Republican Primary Runoff Election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, statewide.
The only race on the Democratic ballot is for Secretary of State with Gail Buckner and Georganna Sinkfield facing off for that nomination.
On the Republican ballot, five positions are to be decided. Candidates are as follows: Governor – Nathan Deal and Karen Handel; Attorney General – Sam Olens and Preston W. Smith; Commissioner of Insurance – Ralph T. Hudgens and Maria Sheffield; Public Service Commissioner, John Douglas and Tim Echols; and U.S. Representative in 112th Congress – Raymond McKinney and Carl Smith.
Voters must vote the same party, Democratic or Republican, as they voted in the General Primary. A voter who did not vote in the General Primary may cast either a Democratic or Republican ballot in the runoff election.
There are no local candidates in the runoff election.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Election Day at all of the normal polling places.
