Hunter education course begins Aug. 16

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will offer the 10-hour Hunter Education Course at the Jenkins County Agriculture Center, across the street from Jenkins County High School 6-9 p.m. Aug. 16 and Aug. 17. The course will conclude 6-8 p.m. Aug. 19. Attendance at all three sessions is mandatory to be eligible to take the certification test. There is no cost associated with the instructor led course.

Participants who do not wish to attend the 10-hour instructor led course may chose to complete an approved Internet course. Those interested in the Internet course should go to www.gohuntgeorgia.com. Three courses are available ranging in price from $9.95-$24.95. After successfully completing the online course, you will need to attend a scheduled 2-hour review and test class for course certification.

Students should print, sign and bring the “Hunter Education Final Report and Affidavit” in order to attend the review and test class. Scheduled reviews and test to be held in Jenkins County from 6-8 p.m. at the Ag Center are Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 12, Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Jan. 13, 2011 and March 17, 2011.

Participants in either the 10-hour course or the Internet course must pre-register. Participants can register at no cost by selecting hunting on the www.gohuntgeorgia.com then click on Hunter Education Classes listed under the Important Links section. Or call 1-800-864-7275 and an operator will register you for the Hunter Education course for a small fee.
