Spring variety show offers evening of

entertainment

A number of local favorites will perform in the Country Music Show

p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Millen Community House. Artists include Anna Crowe, Jessica Herrmann, Sylvia Gay, Will Gay, Jim and Jodie Jarvis, Danielle McBride, Joey McBride, Buddy Harvill and Will Wade.

Barbecue sandwiches, chips, cookies and drinks are included in the ticket price. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from Millen Better Hometown members or from the Millen/Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce office. Proceeds will be used to purchase benches and trash receptacles for Cotton Avenue.

Come celebrate retirement of Billy Alligood

All friends and family of Billy Alligood are invited to help celebrate his retirement 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Jenkins County Senior Citizens Center.

Please make plans to join the tribute to an EMT who has dedicated many years of his life to serving this community.

Recreation News

The Jenkins County Recreation Department is now holding soccer registration for boys and girls ages 4-12 years old. Please come by the recreation office to fill out registration form. A $35 registration fee is due at time of signup. Deadline will be 5 p.m. Aug. 13. These soccer teams will travel to surrounding counties on Saturday and will play in Jenkins County one Saturday date (TBA).

Karate classes are being offered at the recreation department every Tuesday and Thursday night 6-7 p.m. Fee is $40 per month. Come by the recreation department to sign up.

GED to be given at Adult Learning Center

The GED exam will be given at the Jenkins County Adult Learning Center Aug. 31. Call 982-1303 for additional information.

39’ers to meet Aug. 16

The 39’ers will meet noon, Monday, Aug. 16, at the Millen Community House. Dr. Stuart Babcock will be the guest speaker. Members will also enjoy playing Bingo.

All members are encouraged to attend.
