Syl-View Happenings

By Betty Scarborough

There have been great activity happenings, and they have been made possible by our great volunteers. On Friday, we enjoyed a video of Gaither music, and the residents enjoyed ice cream cones, thanks to volunteers Dorothe Garrett, Elizabeth and Roy Burke, Carrie Edwards and our social worker, Ida Robinson. Ice cream is a special treat, especially during these hot days.

Our mission group met Monday, and we were delighted to have Etta Rae Weaver back with Dorothe Garrett. Etta Rae had the vision of the need for a mission group and was involved until her illness. These ladies are a part of the Memorial Baptist Adults on Mission, and our group is a part of their mission activity. We are collecting love gifts for the support of two children the group has adopted. We are proud to be a part of this mission activity.

The Newington United Methodist Women hosted the August birthday party on Wednesday. We are grateful for the church and club groups that provide parties and other special events for the residents.
