Commissioners give land back to church
The county will return to Lane Grove Baptist Church land not used for the paving of Joe Waters Road. The Jenkins County Commissioners approved a request from the church to do so during their August meeting.
Approximately .11 acres of land that was given to the county for the right-of-way for the project was not used and a representative from the church requested that the unused property be returned to the church. It was noted that the roadway did run exactly as predicted, and the entire property was not used.
In other matters, Tax Appraiser Lee Wilson discussed with the commissioners the mapping contract extension cost of $4,000 and the mapping maintenance cost of $5,200.
Other actions taken by the commissioners included the following:
• Awarded a contract on the landfill replacement wells at a cost of $21,000 to Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.;
• Approved a motion instructing the county attorney to write
letter concerning the John Deer mowtrim/tractor contract to the dealer requesting new machines and payment for 9½ weeks of downtime; and
• Approved the purchase of a full page ad in the Booster Club sports program at a cost of $125.
