The $57 million facility, located on Hilltop Road, is scheduled for completion by March 2012, when it will receive its first inmates from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Upon completion the facility will consist of five buildings, occupying 200,000 square feet. It will house 1,150 male inmates.

“Currently, perimeter fences and sidewalks are well underway. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is in progress. Interior painting of the administrative/ support building is scheduled to begin this month, and in the cell housing building, the installation of metal cells is almost complete. The dorm housing buildings have been erected, and the metal roofing and siding are nearly finished,” said DeAndra Mack, CCA.

Beginning in October, CCA will accept applications for 200 full-time positions at the facility. The majority of the staff will be hired locally and those positions are predicted to generate an annual payroll of approximately $8 million in salary and benefits. CCA also anticipates paying approximately $1.2 million annually in combined property taxes and utility payments

CCA currently operates five prisons and detention centers in the state, employing approximately 1,500 corrections professionals with about $54 million annual payroll and paying nearly $8 million in property taxes and utilities annually. The company is the nation’s largest provider of partnership corrections to federal, state and local government, operating more than 60 facilities in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
