Mosley family reunion to be held July 1-3

There will be a family reunion in Millen July 1-3 for the descendants of Adam and Fannie Mosely whose children are: John Mosley, Belle Mosley Scott, Isum Mosley, Adam Mosley, Robert Green Mosley, Anderson Mosley, Mack Mosley, Hattie Mosley, Mattie Mosley, Pearl Mosley and Frank Mosley. Anyone who is part of this family lineage and is interested in attending the reunion should contact Latoshia Mosley Carr, daughter of the late Floyd Mosley Sr., at (912) 678-2905 for more information. Turn in unused or expired drugs

Citizens will have the opportunity to turn in their unused or expired medication for safe disposal 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, July 16, in the Eagle Pharmacy parking lot. Members of the local VFW Post #2776 will be hosting the collection point in recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Days throughout the United States, sponsored the Food and Drug Enforcement Administration.

Many medications, often harmful to others, are being flushed and end up in community drinking water supply systems. Please participate by dropping off medications at this event.

The Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office has volunteered to transport the medications to a disposal facility in Screven County that has filters meeting EPA requirements.

Congressman Barrow to meet with local businesses

Local business owners are invited to meet with U.S. Representative John Barrow 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Regions Bank to discuss their concerns and hear remarks from the congressman. Recreation Department to host baseball/softball camp

The Jenkins County Recreation Department will host a baseball/ softball camp 8:30 – noon June 27-June 28. The cost is $50 per child with a discount for siblings. The camp is for ages 6 and up, girls and boys. Come by the recreation department to register or call (478) 982-2943 for more information.
