JCHS to hold Open House

Jenkins County High School is looking forward to another great year for 2011-2012! All students are invited to come to Open House on Friday, Aug. 12, 1-3 p.m., to pick up their schedule, meet their teachers and visit their classrooms.

In an opportunity to have a smoother transition for the new school term, Ms. Hearn, Guidance Counselor is requesting Juniors and Seniors to stop by the Counselor’s Office and pick up their schedule prior to open house in order to make any necessary changes before the first day of school. Schedules can be picked up on the following dates and scheduled times for each grade level: Seniors – Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1-3 p.m.; and Juniors – Thursday, Aug. 11, 1-3 p.m.

Dr. Joseph Kirkland, principal, has also advised that Seniors who made the True Blue Eagle Club, Blue Level, will be allowed to choose their lockers and reserve their free parking space on Wednesday afternoon when they pick up their schedule.

Robin Scott from the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center is encouraging fathers to come to the school with their students this year as schools across our nation support the Million Father March. This effort has proven that when men are involved in the educational lives of their children, children learn more and perform better in school and in life. He is encouraging fathers or male guardians to come with their Juniors and Seniors on Wednesday and Thursday to pick up their schedules, and attend with their Freshmen and Sophomores on Friday for open house.

Dr. Kirkland will provide two free passes to the scrimmage Football Game on Friday, Aug. 12, at 7:30 p.m. against Hepzibah for students who come to school with a father or male guardian on these dates and times.
