Job fair draws large crowd

Of particular interest to local job-seekers was a booth hosted by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). The company is currently constructing the Jenkins Correctional Center which is expected to provide approximately 200 jobs for local residents when it opens in March 2012.

CCA officials handed out information pertaining to the company’s application process and employment benefits. Hiring for some positions has already begun, and the application process for security positions is expected to begin in 3- 4 weeks. Applications will be accepted online at www.ccajob.com. Total processing of applications is expected to take four weeks or more. Initial communication will take place by e-mail. Officials stressed that it is extremely important that all applicants apply with a valid e-mail address.

Representatives from Southeastern Technical College were also present and provided information to attendees on continu- ing their education and gaining new trade skills as a means of increasing their opportunities for employment.

Other companies and organizations represented at the Job Fair included Georgia Power, Southern Nuclear, Georgia Southern University, Higher Staffing, Sizemore Staffing, Trojan Staffing, Corrections Corporation of America and East Central Georgia One Stop.
