Blood drive to be held at JCHS

A blood drive to benefit Shepeard Community Blood Center will be held 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Jenkins County High School in the old gymnasium. For more information, contact the school at 982-4791.

Millen Better Hometown to sponsor program

Millen Better Hometown and the Cotton Avenue Players invite everyone to the Valentine’s Dinner Theater performance of “Love Letters” at the Millen Community House7 p.m. Feb. 13. A full dinner will be served before the play. Tickets are $15. Call (478) 982-5595 for reservations.

Senior Citizen Center needs sewing machines

The Jenkins County Senior Citizen Center is in need of donations of working sewing machines, cloth and sewing notions for a sewing program for seniors. Please call 982-4213 or drop items off at the center.

A blood drive to benefit Shepeard Community Blood Center will be held 2-6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Optim Medical Center- Jenkins, 931 E. Winthrope Avenue. Please give the gift of life!

Rec. Department news

Tumbling classes are now being held at the Jenkins County Recreation Department. Classes for ages 3-5 are held on Monday and Tuesday at 4-5 p.m.; ages 6-11, Mondays 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, 4-5 p.m.; ages 11 and up, Mondays, 7-8 p.m. and Tuesdays , 5-6 p.m. The fee is $60 per month. The instructor is Shelby Burke. Co-ed karate classes, ages 6 and up, are held 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the gymnasium. The fee is $40 per month. Instructors are Terry Langston and Victor Herrington. T-ball, baseball and softball registration will take place Feb. 16. The fee is $40 per child. T-ball is co-ed for 3-4 year olds. Rookie League is co-ed for 5-6 year olds. Players will be pitched to by the coach. Flea League is for 7-8 year olds - girls’ fast pitch softball and boys’ baseball pitching machine. Mite League is for 9-10 year olds- girls’ fast pitch softball and boys’ baseball pitching machine. Live pitch for girls and boys ages 11-14.
