Miss Jenkins County Schools Pageant to be held March 3

The “Miss Jenkins County Schools Pageant” will be held Saturday March 3 in the Jenkins County gymnatorium. There will be three competition categories again this year: elementary school, grades 3-5; middle school, grades 6-8; and high school, grades 9-12. Applications may be picked up at the office of any of the three schools. The deadline to turn in applications will be Feb. 24. Millen Better Hometown to sponsor program

Millen Better Hometown and the Cotton Avenue Players invite everyone to the Valentine’s Dinner Theater performance of “Love Letters” at the Millen Community House 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. A full dinner will be served before the play. Tickets are $15. Call (478) 982-5595 for reservations.

Senior Citizen Center needs sewing machines

The Jenkins County Senior Citizen Center is in need of donations of working sewing machines, cloth and sewing notions for a sewing program for seniors. Please call 982-4213 or drop items off at the center.

GED registration is Feb. 6

The GED examination will be given at Southeastern Technical College (STC), Swainsboro Campus, Feb. 13 and Feb. 14. Registration is required prior to testing. GED registration is Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Bldg. 2, Room 2102. A picture ID and Social Security card must be presented and a $95 test fee is due at registration. Applicants must be 18 or older. If applicants are 18 or 19 years old, an official withdrawal from the last school attended must also be presented at registration.
