Willie Lewis Gay, Sr.

Mr. Willie Lewis Gay, Sr., 77, of Millen died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at the Elam Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Farmer and Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating. Burial followed in the Elam Cemetery.

Mr. Lewis was born in Jenkins County and was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was retired from the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He was a farmer and a Deacon and Secretary of the Elam Baptist Church. He was also a member of the South Jenkins County Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Clifton Gay; a son, Will (Pansy) Gay Jr. of Millen; daughter, Patti (Wesley) Hendley of Twin City; and four grandchildren, Will Gay III, Emily Gay, Josh Hendley and Ann Marie Hendley.

Active pallbearers were Anthony Cowart, Don Burke, Anthony Martin, Mitchell Johnson, John Roy Clifton, Dudley Clifton and Bill Gainey.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Elam Baptist Church.

Crowe-Field Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
