Lady Eagles Track and Field team headed to State Sectionals

(Photo contributed) The Jenkins County High School (JCHS) Lady Eagles track and field team is soaring high as the Georgia High School Association’s Area 2 champions.

“Our Ladies did an awesome job at the area meet and worked super hard. I told them they had to run harder than they ever have and I told them who they had to beat if they wanted a shot at the trophy. Every girl ran personal best times in the finals and they came out as champions! Please congratulate and encourage them when you see them,” said Coach John Paul Hearn.

Team results were: Timberly Watson – 1st Place 400, 1st Place 200, 5th Place Long Jump;

Kiana Avery – 1st Place 800; Amanda Harden – 1st Place 100 Hurdles, 3rd Place Long Jump, 3rd Place Triple Jump; 4x400 Relay Team 1st Place – Timberly Watson, Leeketria Williams, Kiana Avery, Taliyah McNeely, Reseandra Collier; Leeketria Williams – 3rd Place 300 Hurdles; McKayla Shuman – 3rd Place 1600; Reseandra Collier – 4th Place 800

Samantha Lewis – 5th Place Shot Put; Je’Tera Boatwright – 6 Place Discus; Embree Jenkins – 7th Place Discus; and Alyssa Brannen – 8th Place 1600.

Lady Eagles advancing to the State Sectionals on April 17 are: Timberly Watson – 200, 400, 4x400 Relay; Kiana Avery – 800, 4x400 Relay; Amanda Harden – 100 Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump; Leeketria Williams – 300 Hurdles, 4x400 Relay; McKayla Shuman – 1600; Reseandra Collier – 800, 4x400 Relay; and Taliyah McNeely – 4x400
