Optim-Jenkins Health fair

A total of 145 patients took advantage of discounted lab work and x-rays offered at the recent Optim-Jenkins health fair. City of Millen employees were in attendance and Optim expressed hope that other businesses will participate in future health fairs.

The hallways at the hospital were abuzz with activity from booths set up by 33 different vendors/groups. Karen Penrose, NP from Georgia Skin & Cancer Clinic, gave free skin cancer screens. There were representatives from the Millen/Jenkins Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Warrior Project, Jenkins County Extension/4H, Air Evac, Origami Owl, AvuTox, Georgia Partnership for Telehealth, and many more.

Visitors were treated with free tote bags, pens, pads, cups, mouse pads, fans, hand sanitizer, lemonade, fruit, granola bars, candy, etc.

Optim plans to sponsor a health fair at the Screven Hospital in the spring and again in Jenkins in the fall. Anyone with questions can contact Sylvia Hutcheson at 478-982-4221.
