Bloodmobile to be here July 26th

Shepeard Blood Center is still in need of O Negative blood, which is known as the universal blood type because it can be transfused into any patient in need. However, all blood types are always needed.

A blood drive will be held Tuesday, July 26th at Optim Healthcare-Jenkins 1-6 p.m. on the bloodmobile located in the front parking lot of the hospital. Each donor is encouraged to a bring a friend with them to the drive.

To donate you must weigh at least 100 pounds and be at least 17 years of age. Anyone 16 years old may donate with signed parental consent form. Parental consent forms may be downloaded from shepeardblood.org and will also be available on the bloodmobile. All donors receive a free cool orange Shepeard t-shirt and all first time donors will receive a special first time donor gift. Donors will also receive a free heatlh screening and post-donation refreshments. Remember to drink lots of water the day before and eat a full meal at least one hour prior to donating. Also bring your Shepeard Blood Donor Card or a picture ID with you.

Fourteen blood donors came out to donate blood at the June drive at the hospital. Twelve units of life-saving blood were collected, thus saving 36 local lives.
