City to celebrate “Georgia Cities Week” Open House April 27th

The City of Millen will join other cities across the state in celebration of “Georgia Cities Week” April 23-29.

A variety of events is planned throughout the week with the highlight activity being an Open House, Thursday, April 27th, at the City Hall from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. At this time a lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers will be available, along with tours of City Hall, equipment displays and gas public awareness display.

“We’re very proud of our city and the services we provide that make it attractive to residents and visitors,” said Mayor King Rocker. “Cities provide the services and infrastructure to help businesses grow, and set the stage for events where families and individuals can gather as a community,”

This is the 18th year “Georgia Cities Week” has been celebrated in the state and the third year that the City of Millen has participated. The theme of this year’s event is “Cities in the Mix”, highlighting cities’ important role in creating community gathering spaces and driving economic development.

“Georgia Cities Week” is sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to its 521 member cities.
