Jane Mulkey Green

Jane Mulkey Green, 96 of Atlanta, GA passed away April 5, 2017 at her home in Lenbrook Square after an extended illness. Jane was born in Millen, Ga. on November 16, 1921 to the late Dr. Q. A. Mulkey and Mary Julia Brinson.

After graduating from Millen High School she graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. In 1944 she moved to Atlanta where she taught English at Washington Seminary and Northside High School. Jane married Rufus King Green on June 26, 1960 and retired to become a homemaker. For the last 17 years she lived in Lenbrook Square in Buckhead where she was the editor of the monthly newsletter, Spotlight for many years. Jane was a long time member of St. James United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Rufus King Green and is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Services were held on Friday, April 14th at 11 a.m. at H. M. Patterson and Son, Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Rd, NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. Visitation was held one hour before the service. Burial was at 4 p.m. in the Millen Cemetery, Millen Ga. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rufus K. and Jane Mulkey Green Endowed Chair in English at Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Road, Macon, GA 31210-4462. There will be a Reception in her honor in the coming weeks at Lenbrook Square.
