Child Identification Program to be held May 20

The Ridgeway Lodge #104 of Garfield and Screven Lodge #248 of Millen will sponsor a child identification program (GACHIP) Saturday, May 20, 9 a.m. until noon. The event will be held at 116 S. Railroad St., Garfield. What if your child is missing? Do you have your child’s current information immediately available? Find out how you can protect your children at this event.

Depot Dudes to perform May 27

Leroy Clayton and the Depot Dudes will perform 7 p.m. Saturday, May 27th, at the Perkins Depot. Bring your friends, a lawn chair and insect repellent and come out and enjoy an evening of family entertainment. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Assistance available to spade/neuter pets

Pet owners who need financial assistance with having their dogs/ cats spaded or neutered should contact Sandra Sherrod with Jenkins County K-911 Rescue. The organization has funds available for this through a grant the organization recently received. Those interested may obtain an application by contacting Sandra at 982-3224.

Days to fly your Confederate flag in May

May 28th - Birthday of Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard. He was the first prominent General of the Confederate States Army. Born in 1818, he died on February 20, 1893 at age 74.

Housing Fair to be held May 20th

The Jenkins County Development Authority will host a Housing Fair 9 a.m. until noon, Saturday, May 20th, at the Jenkins County Extension Service, 434 Barney Avenue. Topics of discussion will include, choosing a loan officer, credit and debit process, down payment assistance programs and choosing a real estate agent. Family Fun Day at Magnolia Springs State Park

Friends of Magnolia Springs State Park and Jenkins County 4-H Club will host the second annual Family Fun Day at Magnolia Springs State Park May 20th from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Activities will include archery, bounce houses, crafts, geocaching 101, hiking, black powder demonstrations and much more. Shop the vendors’ treasurers, enjoy the splash pad, and play some games. End the day by staying for a movie at 8:30 p.m. The $5 parking fee will apply or park pass.
