Jeanette Parker is named Jockey International “Employee of the Year” during annual dinner and festivities. The award was presented by Plant Manager Eddie Shelton.

A high speed chase that began in Burke County climaxed in the City of Millen with the crash of a stolen vehicle on Short Street. According to Bobby Womack, Sheriff of Jenkins County, Thaddeus Brown, 23, of Waynesboro has been charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Theft by Entering, and nine traffic violations. Brown also faces charges in Burke County where he is being held in the Burke County Jail.

Morgan Sharpe Jr. was presented the Tom Rabitsch Senior Adult of the Year Award by the Rev. Charles Strickland, pastor of Millen Baptist Church. The award was voted on by members of the Senior Adult Sunday School class.

Five members of the Jenkins County High School track team placed during region and state competitions, according to Coach David Johnson. They were Arlinda Kelly, Tiffany Wilson, Fallon Mitchell, Ricardo Lacue and Carlton Harris.

Jenkins County Coroner Robert Fields will face opposition for re-election in the July 18 Primary Election from Henry Young. Jenkins County Probate Judge Wanda Burke faces opposition for re-election from Martha Snider.
