Celebrate the nation’s birthday on July 1st

Join the crowd at the Jenkins County Recreation Department to celebrate on Saturday, July 1st, at Jenkins County’s traditional Patriotic Celebration. The program begins at 8 p.m. led by Master of Ceremonies Joe Sasser. Following the Presentation of Colors by the Veterans for Community, the Rev. Jay Reppert, pastor of Fair Haven/Habersham Methodist Churches, will open the program with prayer, followed by Joe Sasser leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Hank Whiters’ singing his outstanding rendition of the National Anthem. Terri Reeves will give a patriotic tribute.

The musical program features some of Jenkins County’s favorites: The JCHS Band; vocalists Will Gay and Emily Lloyd, and pianists Angie Joiner and Kenneth Cliett.

The spectacular fireworks show will follow at 9:20 p.m.

The Patriotic Celebration is sponsored by Main Street Millen with support from Clay Boulineau and the Millen Department of Public Works and Lisa Dailey and the Jenkins County Recreation Department. Financial sponsors of the event are the Jenkins County Board of Commissioners, Millen City Council, Planters EMC, The Dairy Queen, Parker Engineering, Queensborough Bank and Trust, M. I. Concessions will be available. Admission is free.
