July is here, which means that we’re in the home stretch of our Summer Reading Program! Never fear, though – even if you haven’t signed up, or your kids haven’t signed up, you can all still get in on the fun. Our theme this year is “Build a Better World” and we’re building up to one heck of a great finale!.

Before that, though, we have some great stuff coming. First up is our wonderful “How It’s Done” workshop on Saturday, July 8, at 12:30 p.m. We’ll show you how to make the most of summer’s bounty with Carnival Rice, a great side dish that can turn into a full meal just by adding some proteins like chicken or beef.

Next, we have a brand new performer, the Keating Entertainment Puppet Show, coming to the library at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. They’ve got some great new stories to tell, and we think you’ll like them a lot.

After the show, stick around for a little while and enjoy our special summer storytime at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. It’s going to have a technology theme, and it’s going to be amazing!

Then on Wednesday, July 12, at 1 p.m. we’ll be doing cool CD art that will let you turn any old CD into a funky work of art during our Teen Craft time!

On Monday, July 17, it’s the final event of the Summer Reading Program – the day when mad scientist Doc Atoms comes and shows us just how cool (and sometimes messy) science can be! After the show, we’ll have our End of Summer Reading Party, with snacks, drinks and a lot of fun.

We will have our weekly storytime on Tuesday, July 18, at 4 p.m. and it’s going to be great. Our theme will be “Garden Fun” and they’ll hear stories about growing a garden and do a fun garden-related craft.

Our last Teen Craft time of the summer will be on Wednesday, July 19, at 1 p.m. when we will show your kids how to turn a balloon and a couple other odds and ends into a mini-hovercraft!

Well, that’s all for now – see you at the library!
