Agnes Cassels Hillis

Agnes Cassels Hillis, age 84, of Millen died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Hospice House in Savannah.

She was born in Grady County, was a registered nurse for over 60 years, retired from Jenkins County Hospital, and was a member of Elam Baptist Church.

She was also a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and various Bridge Clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Wycliffe Hillis Jr., and son, William Wycliffe “Bill” Hillis III.

Visitation was held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Millen Baptist Church Social Hall until the hour of the funeral.

Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Millen Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating. Burial followed in the Millen Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roy Hillis, Chris Hillis, Blake Hillis, Jake Burruss, Micah Baldwin, and Antonio Martinez.

Survivors include her daughter, June Hillis Burruss (Henry) of Wilmington Island; a son, Arnold Hillis (Tina Marie) of Millen; a daughter-in-law, Lynne Cowart Hillis of Millen; a sister, Evelyn Shaw (Keith) of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Joan Cassels of Cairo; six grandchildren, Blake Hillis, Brooke Hillis Baldwin (Micah), Jake Burruss, Erin Burruss, Roy Hillis, and Christopher Hillis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Crowe-Fields Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
