The Summer Reading Program is officially over until next year, but you can still bring in your child’s reading logs and pick up their prizes until Tuesday, August 1. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Summer Reading Program – from the kids, teens and adults who read hundreds upon hundreds of hours to the parents, grandparents, and other caring adults who brought the kids to the library to pick books and attend programs, to the many individuals and organizations who donated funds, goods and services to help make our Summer Reading Program possible. It has been a great, fun time that helped hundreds of children and teens keep up their reading skills and fight off the “summer slump”, and it has truly been a community project.

We do have one last Summer Reading Program project, though – our special Teen Craft Time at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19. We will be making cool 3D name sculptures that your older kids and teens will have a lot of fun creating and assembling.

On Saturday, July 22, at 12:30 p.m. we will have our “Paint @ the Library” adult painting class, where we will show you how to paint a serene still life. It’s a great way of learning to paint while creating a serene artwork of your very own! Space is limited, so sign up today!

Every Tuesday at 4 p.m. we have our afternoon storytime. This Tuesday, July 25, we will have a story about the lovable puppy Biscuit and a cute canine craft. Next Tuesday, August 1, we will have a special back-to-school themed storytime and craft.

The Jenkins County Memorial Library Board of Trustees will be meeting on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m. The Screven- Jenkins Regional Library Board will be meeting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, at the Jenkins County Memorial Library.

New at the library – “The Identicals” by Elin Hilderbrand. Twin sisters Tabitha and Harper Frost have been at odds for years, but after a family crisis, they trade lives and are forced to look at the rivalry and differences between them that have driven them apart.

Well, that’s all for now – see you at the library!
