The Chatter Box

By Deborah Bennett

I was pleasantly surprised to be made aware a new “trend” around the City of Millen last week. Individuals are decorating and placing rocks in conspicuous places around the city for others to find. One side of the rocks usually bears the name or initials of an individual while the other side reads “Jenkins County rocks.” Of all the things “trending”, as they say, this is something different and nice!

No one seems to know who is behind the “rocking trend”, or at least they are not talking if they do know, but I suspect that it is a local youth group. And that just adds to the mystery and excitement.

Whether you are a rock “hider” or “hunter”, I think all will agree that “rocking Jenkins County” is a fun activity for everyone who participates. The activity may not go “viral” but it is certainly getting a lot of local attention. And one thing is for sure. It is certainly a lot more fun than all the political and celebrity items “trending” nationally!

I’ve got one rock and looking for more! And, yes, Jenkins County does rock!

Happy birthday this week to: Margaret Larisey, Jerry Dailey, Felicia Dailey, Christian Chance, Frank Wilson, Aaron Tanner, and Amanda Bragg.
