(Photo contributed) Durden Banking Company, Inc. has announced the opening of a full-service banking office in Millen on July 13th. The new facility is located at 815 Highway 25 North.

The public is invited to an Open House and to tour the new bank between the hours of 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, August 10. Refreshments and favors will be offered to those attending. The bank staff will be on hand to greet everyone and provide information about the facility and the bank’s services.

The office will be under the management of Kirk Rocker, Vice President of Durden Banking Company, Inc. and a lifetime resident of Millen. Kirk has worked with the bank since 2008. He states, “I am looking forward to returning to my hometown and providing the banking services desired by the citizens of Jenkins County.” Assisting Mr. Rocker will be Claudette Sasser, Customer Service Representative; Jacqueline Cronk, Loan and CSR Assistant; Jessica Suggs and Kim Lane handling the teller duties. They invite everyone to come by to see them and the new facility.

The new brick veneer bank building was designed by Craig Buckley of James W. Buckley & Associates, Inc. of Swainsboro. The project was managed and constructed by Dennis Tippins and Rett Polk of Tippins-Polk Construction, Inc. of Statesboro. The new building contains slightly less than 5,000 square feet of heated space plus the drive through canopy providing three drive through lanes with easy and safe access to the ATM and Night Depository. The drive through teller equipment is the latest technology including high quality two-way display monitors and pneumatic tube system. The inside teller stations are equipped with new Arca Recyclers which assist the tellers with faster transactions and fewer errors.

The building is easily assessable from either Highway 25 or Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The interior of the building is designed with the customer in mind. It provides comfortable access from the nearby parking lot, a convenient porch and vestibule to escape the outside elements prior to entering the warm but spacious lobby and teller line. The bank provides several private offices so customers can handle their business in complete privacy. The spacious vault contains several nests of new safe deposit boxes available for rent to its customers. A private space is available for customers to use when visiting their safe deposit box. A conference room is available for both bank use and available to customers by appointment.

Durden Banking Company, Inc. is a locally owned and operated financial institution with four offices located in Twin City, Swainsboro, Metter and now Millen. It has in excess of $160 million in assets and over $25 million in capital. It is and has been recognized as both a very safe and high performing bank by Bauer Financial Inc. by awarding Durden Banking Company, Inc. its 5 STAR Rating, their highest award. The bank was established in Summit, which later became Twin City on June 26, 1935.

Bank President and Chief Executive Officer G.W. Johnson Jr. has been with the bank for 41 years, serving as its president for the past 20 years. He states that in his opinion the success and growth of the bank has been because the bank has remained loyal to the mission of the bank. “We have been committed to the needs of our customers providing them with the services they need with sincere personal service. The bank’s stated Mission Statement is to be an independent bank, locally operated to take care of the needs of the communities that we serve. We will strive for consistent growth and profitability for the benefit of our stockholders, customers and employees.”

“Durden Banking Company has been a familiar institution to the Jenkins County community for many years having many customers from the area. The new office will offer them additional convenience with the same hometown, friendly and high-quality customer service they’ve become accustomed to” Mr. Johnson said.

He expressed his appreciation for the warm and hospitable welcome the community has given them and the assistance and cooperation the city, county, state and utility companies provided during the construction phase of the project.
