The office, located at 1075 E. Winthrope Avenue, is currently taking requests for appointments for new patients to establish care with an EGHC medical provider. EGHC, in conjunction with the Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce, will host an Open House and Ribbon Cutting September 26th from 4-6 p.m.

“We invite everyone to come enjoy the event and see this wonderful new addition to the Millen-Jenkins County community,” says Mandy Underwood, Jenkins County Chamber and JDA Executive Director.

EGHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the primary care needs of patients throughout the East Georgia region. “Since 1994 EGHC’s mission of providing the highest quality care to each and every patient in our service area, no matter their background, ethnicity, insurance, or ability to pay has been the center piece of our company,” states Jennie Wren Denmark, CEO of EGHC. Ms. Denmark added, “From our humble beginnings in Swainsboro with four employees to the large network of sites and services we currently offer, EGHC has always put the patient first.”

EGHC’s new Millen office is located in the former “Dr. Abreu” building, which has been undergoing rehabilitation and construction by Polk-Tippens Construction over the past several months. The Millen facility is the 10th site operated by EGHC, whose service area spans 11 counties from Jefferson to Wayne. EGHC currently employs over 110 employees throughout their service area. The Millen clinic features six exam rooms, a large lab and offices for administrative personnel. An outdoor covered parking area has also been constructed to accommodate a 2-exam room medical unit that will facilitate outreach and off-site medical visits. It will employ seven full time employees on-site with additional support staff coming from the corporate headquarters in Swainsboro. Of the seven employees, two are medical providers, Calloway (Callie) Skinner, PA, and Billie Stout, FNP.

In eliminating as many traditional barriers to healthcare as possible, EGHC accepts almost all insurances, Medicaid, Medicare, and offers a sliding scale, based on income for those who qualify, with discounted rates for uninsured patients. They also employ a full time bilingual staff member to better assist patients.

“EGHC utilizes cutting edge technology and a patient centered approach to provide the highest quality of healthcare possible,” says Peyton Frye, EGHC’s Practice Manager. “From the moment you walk in the door of our clinic we strive to integrate personalized service with technology to make your medical home as accessible as possible at the office or from your smartphone or computer,” Frye added. “The Jenkins County area holds a personal place in my heart, and I am excited that EGHC joining the community to provide healthcare services to its citizens.”

EGHC’s Millen office is open Mondays 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesdays – Thursdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Visit East Georgia Healthcare Center’s website at, eghc.org, for information about the company, all 10 of the clinics, and all the services offered.
