Danny Daughtry of Millen has been nominated to receive the American Farmer Degree, highest degree presented by the National FFA organization. Danny was nominated for the degree by the Georgia FFA Association. He will receive the degree in a ceremony on Nov. 11th in a special ceremony.

JCHS Eagles football team loses to Waynesboro 14-12. It was the Eagles’ second loss of the season. Both losses have resulted in missed extra points.

Buckhead Bucks and Edmund Burke play to 0-0 tie.

The Dairy Queen of Millen advertises the “big brazier and fries” for 69 cents.

Darrel Clifton is named “Jaycee of the Month.”

The Vanity Box advertises Goucho sets for $28 and Jump Suits for $33. The business announces it will sponsor a fashion show at the Millen Community House on Sept. 30th.

Mrs. Mary Mills Johnson recently celebrated her 109th birthday. She is the county’s oldest citizen.

The third annual Fair-on-the-Square, sponsored by the Young Women’s Circle of the Millen United Methodist Church, will feature the Ft. Stewart Band. Exhibit booths are available for $5.

G. Truett Spivey is named Executive Vice President of Ogeechee Valley Bank, effective Oct. 1st. Fred B. Newton tendered his resignation to the Board of Directors to become effective Sept. 30th.
