This week’s #COEAlumniSpotlight is Julie Chance (‘85,’13,’15). Currently enrolled in the College’s Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program, Chance will soon be a Quadruple Eagle alumna, having earned four degrees from Georgia Southern University. She currently holds a bachelor’s in secondary education as well as master’s and specialist degree in educational leadership.

She has served as the Director of Federal Programs and Professional Learning for the Jenkins County School System (JCSS) for the past nine years. Before that time, she was the Executive Director of the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center for twelve years.

As a teacher, social worker, non-profit director and educational administrator, Chance has worked for the families of Jenkins County in public service since first graduating from Georgia Southern with her undergraduate degree. Utilizing her graduate degrees in educational leadership, Chance has assisted JCSS in developing sustainable instructional technology, professional learning and teacher leader programs.

Chance and her husband, Chris, reside in Statesboro and are active members of First Baptist Church Statesboro. They have four children, C.J. (Evan), Caleb, Christian and Colin as well as three grandchildren. Chance says her personal motto for both her personal and professional life is to “leave things better than you found them.” Chance enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid sports fan.
