Farmers Furniture holds Grand Opening in new expanded location on Cotton Avenue in downtown Millen. The opening events were broadcast live over W.G.S.R. Radio with Tom Cooper as Emcee.

Susan L. Stoll of Millen is the recipient of a $31,000 scholarship from Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation. Miss Stoll is a sophomore majoring in English education at Emanuel Junior College in Swainsboro.

Bank of Millen advertises “Thursday banking.” The bank will be open from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursdays.

The Jenkins County Commissioners advertises its 1986- 1987 budget at $880,549.73. The Jenkins County Board of Education budget is listed at $836,148.21 for 1986-1987 and the City of Millen budget is advertised at 524.247.91.

Guryley’s grocery store advertises N.Y. strip steaks for $2.99 lb.; headless shrimp, $3.99 lb.; boneless stew beef, $1.79 lb.; and baking hens, 59 cents lb.

Helen Taylor is the $25 first place winner in the recipe contest held Sept. 29th in the Community Room of Ogeechee Valley Bank. The event was sponsored by the Extension Service in recognition of Peanut Week.

Mrs. Betty Black is the second and third place winner in the Dairy Recipe Contest held recently at Ogeechee Valley Bank.

Lannie Lanier assumes duties as County Agent here. He transfers to Jenkins County from Evans County where he worked for four years.
