Identification of fire victim pending

Millen Fire Chief Dwayne Herrington said the fire occurred around 6:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon at a Booker Avenue mobile home residence. The structure was fully engulfed by flames upon arrival of Millen Fire Department personnel.

The body discovered in the mobile home, which is believed to be that of the resident, has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for positive identification. The name of the resident is not being released, pending positive identification, said Jenkins County Coroner Henry Young.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office and the Millen Fire Department.
