Santa Claus is coming to town!

( Staff photo by Deborah Bennett) The jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus, will be on hand for Christmas in Millen 6-9 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 8th, on Cotton Avenue!

Children are invited to come and have their photos taken with Santa as they deliver their Christmas wish lists and chat with him. They can also enjoy train rides by the local volunteer fire departments and an ice skating rink. Everything needed to enjoy the ice skating rink will be provided.

Other entertainment will include a selfie station and programs presented by the third grade of Jenkins County Elementary School and Southern Dancers. The Jenkins County High School Band will present a Christmas concert in the Pal Theater at 7 p.m.

All events are free and food items will be available for purchase: chili, hot dogs, cotton candy, candy apples, popcorn and drinks.

The lighting of the Memorial Tree located at the Caboose on Cotton Avenue will be held at 5 p.m. Tree and Star lights may be purchased in memory/honor of loved ones. Tree lights are $15 each and Star lights are $25 each. All proceeds will benefit the Nancy Wolfinger Scholarship Fund, which presents $250 scholarships to graduating seniors at Jenkins County High School annually. Lights may be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office on Cotton Avenue.

Invite your friends and neighbors, put on your Christmas sweaters, load up the car and kick-off the Christmas season in downtown Millen on Dec. 8th!
