Remember When – This Date in 1958

The Millen Rotary Club had as its guest speaker on Friday Lamar Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Black of the Birdsville section of our county. Lamar has just returned from Chicago where he participated in a Livestock Judging Contest at the Chicago Stock Yards.

The George Williams family, upon leaving Atlanta on Christmas Day enroute to Moultrie to visit the sister of Mr. Williams, was involved in an automobile accident which caused Mrs. Williams to receive a broken hip and other injuries.

The end of the year statement of the Bank of Millen indicates a very fine year. The total deposits as of Dec. 31, 1956 were $2,708,407.74. At the end of December 1957, they were $2,640,490.21.

Dr. Robert C. Bailie of Waynesboro and Millen will be installed in a top post of the Georgia Optometric Association to be held at the Manger Hotel in Savannah. He will become chairman of the Committee on New Licenses of the First District unit of the Georgia Optometric Association.

Eugene Dwelle was named as President of the Oak Hill Chapter of the Jenkins County Farm Bureau at their initial and organizational meeting.
