Ruby Gay Lane

Ruby Gay Lane, 94, of Millen died Friday, January 19, 2018 at Ogeechee Hospice in Statesboro.

She was born in Jenkins County, graduated from Georgia Southern Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University, and later attained a 6-year certificate. She was a retired teacher that had been issued an emergency teacher certificate after her freshman year of college due to World War II and she was a member of Lewis Primitive Baptist Church.

She was a very loving person who always saw the best in people.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Seabron L. Lane, Sr.; children, Seabron 'Seabie' L. Lane, Jr. and Gayla Lane; parents, Roscoe Gay and Amy Wiggins Gay; brother, Venon La- Vaughn Gay; and sister, Avie LaVene Gay.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Lewis Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Sam Bowen and Tommy Roundtree officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include grandson-son, Joey Reeves (Christy); grandsons; Seabron Trae' L. Lane, III (Tori), Thomas Tyler Lane, Jared Trenton 'Trent' Lane, and James Patrick Conway; granddaughter, Stacey Charissa Conway; great-grandchildren, Amy Reeves, Jamison Witham, Eden Harris, Thomas Lane, John Lane, Serenity Lane, Ana Dawson, and Charlotte Lane; daughter-in-law: Pamela A. Lane; and sister-in-law, Burnease Lane.
