Dear Editor:

To the citizens of Millen/Jenkins County, the MLK Jr. Committee extends a heartfelt “thank you” for your dedication, support and participation shown during the week of the MLK Jr. events.

We thank you for your continued support of the MLK Jr./ Charles Beale Memorial Scholarship. Your dedication and investment into the educational endeavors of the young people of Jenkins County is proof that together and united our community can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow for our future generations.

A special “thank you” goes to Minister Robert Lee Johnson for delivering the opening message for the schedule of events at the Unity Worship Service. Special thanks to Rev. Robert Davis Jr. for his words of wisdom at the annual MLK Jr. Breakfast.

A special “thank you” to our Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Tara Cooper, for sharing such an eloquent and inspirational message at the 9th annual MLK Jr./Charles Beale Memorial Scholarship Banquet. A special “thank you” to Mrs. Willie Mae Johnson for gracing our city with her beauty as Grand Marshal for the parade. She is an inspiration to all of us.

Special thanks to the County Commissioners, County Administrator, Sheriff’s Department, Mayor and Council, City Administrator, Millen Police Department, Jenkins County Board of Education, Sergeant Major Smoot and the JCHS JROTC, Mr. McBride and the JCHS Marching Band and The Millen News.

“Thank you” to our youth for the positive behavior exhibited before, during and after the Youth Extravaganza at the Millen Civic Center.

Again, we thank you and may God bestow blessings upon our community and nation.
