The Chatter Box

By Deborah Bennett

A new company was welcomed to our community last week. Roto Polymers hosted a Grand Opening for its new facility in Millen on Thursday with a large crowd in attendance.

I have to admit that I understood absolutely nothing about the “rotomolding” industry or the products produced. I received an “education” at the event and was amazed at the technology involved and the uses for the products – everything from coolers to kids’ toys.

Roto Polymers is a great addition to our industrial “family” and the company’s officials seem genuinely pleased to be here, praising local leaders and the community for welcoming them.

Employment at the facility is expected to reach 20 by the end of the year. Those hired will be primarily fork lift operators and truck drivers. So, if you are interested in working for Roto Polymers, contact the Chamber of Commerce Office about a fork lift certification class the Chamber is trying to get organized. One class has already been held.

I also learned from a company official that before coming to Millen personally to look the community over, they first checked us out online via The Millen News’ website. That reminded me that we never know who is out there looking at Millen and Jenkins County and how they are doing it. The Millen News is proud to be a part of promoting our community!

Welcome, Roto Polymers!
