(Photo contributed) Project for Better Health (PFBH) is a non-medical nonprofit organization seeking to improve the overall health and well-being of the residents of the Jenkins County area. Educational workshops, informational materials, counseling, needs assessments, and referrals are provided free of charge to anyone wishing to embark on a journey toward better physical mental, and spiritual health. PFBH strives to be the clearinghouse for services not currently available but needed for local citizens to maximize their longevity and quality of life.

PFBH ended 2017 with a donation drive. As are most nonprofits, PFBH is seeking financial and hands-on support. In December a donation drive was held, and prizes were awarded. Ms. Ernestine Miller won dinner which was donated by Café on Cotton. Ms. Lisa Kitchens won a gas gift card; Ms. Jacinda Ford and Ms. Patricia Bramblet each won Dairy Queen gift cards. Congratulations to all!

As PFBH begins 2018, the organization will be providing a Companioning In Grief workshop at Green Fork Baptist Church. This will be a Tuesday night group seeking to help each other in dealing with loss. Anyone who has suffered a loss is welcomed to attend. PFBH will continue to provide blood pressure checks, medication assistance, community and office-based presentations as requested. Counseling appointments are scheduled when requested. Referrals to other resources and agencies are made as needs arise.

Watch the PFBH board at The Millen News Building or call for information. The office will continue to be open Tuesday and Thursday 1-5 p.m. or by individual appointment. Reach PFBH at projectforbetterhealth@gmail.com or call 706-360-6970.
