Captain Justin McBride completes second command

(Photo contributed) On February 9th, Captain Justin G. McBride relinquished command of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Armored Division, Division Artillery following a successful command at Fort Bliss, Texas. He is the son of Melodye and Buford Williams of Millen, and Jerry McBride of Sylvania.

A few accomplishments during his tenure as Commander include leading his Battery through a Corp and Division level Warfighter exercise, simultaneously deployed personnel and equipment to different locations across the world, executing a Deployment Readiness Exercise, Convoy Live Fire Exercise, the Division and Battalion Artillery Readiness Test, and multiple Field Artillery gunnery certifications and Field Training Exercises.

Captain McBride's dedication to caring for his soldiers and mission accomplishment was recognized by his being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal prior to the ceremony.

His wife, Tara, was awarded the Yellow Rose of Texas, signed by the Governor of Texas, in recognition of her selfless service in taking care of Army families.

This concludes two consecutive Battery Commands over the span of 26 months for Captain McBride.

Next, the McBrides will be assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia where they will continue their service to this nation.

Captain McBride is married to the former Tara Wilkes of Statesboro. He is a graduate of Screven County High School, Georgia Military College and Georgia Southern University, and is a member of Sylvania Masonic Lodge #301. His grandparents are Melvin and Annelle Dickey of Millen.
