The Chatter Box

By Deborah Bennett

“When it rains it pours!” That is what I have often heard – and I believe there is a bit of truth in that statement. And not just of rain, but life in general. In other words, when life is good, it is really good. And when life is bad, it tends to be really bad.

That reminds me of another old adage I have heard. “Things tend to come in groups of three” - bad and good things, which too, can become a reality.

But I think if we apply another old adage in every situation, we might just look at things a little differently. “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” In other words, make the best of whatever life throws at you.

I believe we can always find a little good in every bad situation or circumstance we face. We usually have to look for it, however. And that is something that most of us don’t tend to do when we are in the midst of one of life’s storms. All we can see are the rain clouds, forgetting there is a sun behind them that is sure to shine again!

There is also a verse from the Bible that reminds me that we are not victims of our circumstances but part of a bigger plan. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28”. And this is definitely true!

Forget all the old adages about life and cling to this PROMISE when in the midst of life’s storms! You will never regret it!
