CodeRED Alert System now available here

The Jenkins County Board of Commissioners has licensed the CodeRed Community Notification System to help disseminate important or critical information to citizens of Jenkins County and the City of Millen.

“This will allow Jenkins County Emergency Management to send out specific notifications for our citizens like Tornado Warnings, Flood Warnings, Road Closures, Escaped Prisoners, etc. What makes this program specific is we can target a geographical area within our county to notify, or the entire county. We have included the City of Millen with access to allow them to use the system for their specific purposes such as Water Boils, Street Closures or other notifications for the citizens within the city,” said Alvin Burke, Jenkins County EMA Director.

All residents and businesses are encouraged to go to the www.jenkinscounty.net website, click on the CodeRED logo located on the Emergency Management Page and enter their contact information, including additional phone numbers, and text and email addresses, to ensure all of the data in the system is accurate and current. The website is currently under construction but the CodeRed logo will also be located on the Home Page shortly.

Anyone who knows of someone who is not aware of this program and who lives in Jenkins

County, please encourage them to visit the Jenkins County website and enter their information.

Those who do not have Internet access are urged to contact a friend or family member to help add their contact information to the emergency database. Citizens can also call the Jenkins County Emergency Management Agency directly at 478-982-2563 for assistance. Emergency Management will take down the information and sign the caller up for this worthwhile emergency alert program.

This program is available at NO cost to the citizens of Millen and Jenkins County.
