The 2018-2019 school year will officially open for students in the Jenkins County School System on Wednesday, August 15th, under the leadership of Jenkins County School Superintendent Tara Cooper. Mrs. Cooper administers the work of the school system under the direction of a five member Board of Education as follows: Chairman Danny Bennett, Vice-Chair Mary Young, Roy Cook, George Parker and Mike Reese.

Open House will be held August 14th from 1-4 p.m. All parents and community members are encouraged to attend as this is an opportunity for them and their children to meet their teachers and administrators and tour the new school. Parking maps will be shared via the school website, local media, and Facebook page.

Any student who has health issues and/or takes medication while at school should bring the medication with them to open house and allow time to meet with the school nurse to discuss the student’s medical needs.

New students will need to bring an immunization record, certified copy of birth certificate, eye, ear and dental report, Social Security card, report card or school records from previous school and proof of residency.

Jenkins County schools participate in a community eligibility program where all students are provided breakfast and lunch at no cost to them.

School insurance may be purchased through each school and school supply lists are available at each school.

A uniform dress code is enforced for students in grades 6-12 only. A copy of the dress code may be obtained at the Central office located at 1152 E. Winthrope Avenue, Millen or the school website www.jchs.com.

Superintendent Cooper states, “We are excited about beginning a new school year in a new, fabulous school! We need all of our parents to be a part of their child’s educational experience. The Jenkins County School System is looking forward to a successful school year.”
