Appreciation Gala for the Maestro

Family and friends of Macarthur Haynesworth have planned an Appreciation Gala and Reception in his honor on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 5 p.m. at Molly’s Park, Highway 17 in Millen. Special musical guests from Millen, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia, will perform tributes.

Haynesworth has been ministering across the state of Georgia. Millenites may know Haynesworth, who is affectionately called the “Maestro” as the musical director of the Unity Community Choir, Inc. in the mid to late 2000s. He has also acted as emcee and guest musician at many area churches. However, many residents may not know the extent of this South Carolina native’s civic work in Millen.

Haynesworth is an entrepreneur, being the owner and operator of The Master’s Touch Lawn Care Service. He had been active citizen/member of Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce. As part of the chamber, Haynesworth served on the Moving Forward Urban Redevelopment Authority for Millen. Jenkins County Family Enrichment hired him as performing arts instructor for their BLAST program for two years. He also served as a Jenkins County elections board member and poll worker. Another little known fact, Haynesworth formed the Unity of Hope Cancer Society. For several years, he has participated in the Jenkins County Relay for Life.

Earlier this year, a special awards luncheon was held for SC Music Legends, and Haynesworth was recognized as one of South Carolina’s finest musicians and inducted into South Carolina’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

He is presently the elder of music at New Hope Baptist Church in Harlem, Georgia. He is married to Rosetta Whitfield. Those who would like to attend, should RSVP by calling his wife at 706-871-8792.
