JCHS Cross Country finishes season

Jenkins County High School’s (JCHS) cross country team has finished its season with some impressive achievements, said Coach Bobby James.

The girls’ team finished third at the Region meet which qualified the team to compete in the State meet held at Carrollton High School, Carrollton. The girls’ team finished13th at the state meet with Brett Landing placing second Overall and winning State Runner-up. Other runners competing for JCHS were Shianne Moore, Janiya Jones, Nora Kate Williams, Mariah Griffin, Kara Oglesby, and Makenzie Coleman.

Other JCHS runners competing were Janiya Jones, Shianne Moore, Mariah Griffin, Kara Oglesby, Makenzie Coleman, and Macey Aaron.

The boys placed sixth at the Region meet with Tywan Williams being the first JCHS runner to cross the finish line. Others competing were Kewaun Wilson, Carson James, Lawton Wiggins, Daryl Golff, Jackson Oglesby and Bryce Cranshaw.

The boys finished second at the Ray Miller Invitational meet and seventh at the SEB Invitational meet. The girls finished sixth at the SEB Invitational meet with Brett Landing taking the first place girl Overall.

In the Bird Dog Break Away meet, Brett Landing was the second place Overall woman and first in her age group. Riley James placed second in his age group; J.C. Dailey, fourth in his age group; Autumn Daily, second in her age group; and Coach James placed first in his age group.
