Annie Johnson graduated



Annie Burnette Johnson graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling on May 14. The baccalaureate service was held May 13 with Dr. Vernon Brower giving the address. Those who attended her graduation were her mother, Gladys McClain, of Millen and her cousin, V. Shapp, of Norfolk, Va. Annie resides in Atlanta.

BBQ cook-off winners



Winners in the barbecue cook-off held during Sherman’s Trail Yard Sale were as follows: Pork winners- 1st place – Planters Electric Membership Corporation, 2nd place – Jenkins County Farm Bureau and 3rd place – Millen Fire Department; Best Chicken winner- Micheal Curl; and Best Sauce winner-Micheal Curl.

CCA project on schedule



Work on the Jenkins Correctional Center, under construction by Corrections Corporation of America, is progressing on schedule with the facility set to receive its first inmates in March 2012.
